Kids Bedroom Design
tips + advice

Designing a practical and perfect bedroom for your kids can be much simpler than you might imagine. It is crucial to provide them with a space where they feel secure to play, sleep and dream. As children outgrow not only their clothes but also trends, it is essential to style their room in a way that can evolve with them.

Below are some straightforward ideas that can help you create a timeless bedroom for your little ones.

Invest in Multipurpose Furniture

Multipurpose furniture is a great option for both kids and parents. Choosing functional pieces of furniture offers endless possibilities within a small space. For instance, a change table that doubles as a chest of drawers can be converted into a bookshelf once it is no longer needed. Or a cot that can be turned into a toddler bed and then a lounge. While it may be an investment, it will stand the test of time and last much longer.

Buy a Statement Rug

Since children have constantly changing interests, choosing a single theme for their bedroom can be a daunting task. In the design world, it is often recommended to start by drawing inspiration from one statement piece. An area rug can cover most of a room, making a maximum impact. Choosing a statement rug that is soft, tactile, and easy to clean. Children love that texture of a rug and spend a lot of time playing on the floor, so make it cosy and warm.

Opt for Patterned Bedding

Children tend to have a lot of fun when it comes to patterns and colours, so reflect that within their own space. Let them choose the pattern they like. You can use subtle patterns and clashing prints to decorate their bedding. Use block colour against larger and smaller prints to create the perfect mix and match feel. By mixing linen, you won’t have to worry too much about washing, as there is no need for the entire set to be clean at the same time.

Create a Play Area

Children love anything interactive, from jumping, climbing, and sliding to hiding, building and art. So, create a bedroom keeping that in mind. The more imaginative and colourful their bedroom is, the more their imagination will spark.

Dedicate a corner of their room to playing and get storage cubes, a desk, or anything that will spark the joy of play in them, keeping in mind that this space will most likely end up wild.
