Building a new home for the first time can feel overwhelming, but for Jordan and Caitlin, their experience with Hunter Homes was defined by smooth communication, strong support, and a build that came together faster than expected.

The couple built The Chelsea 204 with the Bowman Alt Façade in Lochinvar, Hunter Region, completing their home in just 20 weeks, well ahead of the expected timeframe.

As first-time builders, they knew what they wanted, but weren’t entirely sure what to expect from the process.

“Everything went smoothly… even when there was a hiccup, it just wasn’t an issue. It all seemed to go really quick and just flowed,” Jordan said.

A home designed with light, warmth and contrast

From the outset, the couple had a clear vision for their interiors- clean, modern tones with a balance of light, soft neutrals, darker accents, and warm textures to bring depth and personality into the space.

“We wanted that grey, white and black type vibe, but with warmth through it as well,” Caitlin said.

The result is a home that feels bright and open, with considered contrast and warmth layered throughout, reflecting both their style and practical approach to budgeting.

A team that made the process easy

From their first visit to the display homes, the couple felt supported by the Hunter Homes team throughout every stage.

Their journey began viewing the display homes, followed by strong guidance through sales, selections, and the full build process. “they were really on the ball” Jordan said.

But one name stood out across the entire experience- Site Supervisor Paul.

“Paul is the best at what he does, honestly. If we build again, I’d be scared we wouldn’t get him,” Caitlin shared.

Jordan added that Paul’s communication and care made a real difference:

“You could pick up the phone and call him anytime. He was so supportive and would move mountains to make things happen. He even asks how you’re going outside of the build—not just about the house, but about you.”

That personal level of care gave them confidence throughout the journey, especially during inspections and handover.

“Even during the Practical Completion Inspection, he was already spotting things we hadn’t noticed—he just wanted everything perfect.”

17 week build time

One of the standout moments of their journey was just how quickly their home came together.

Originally expecting around 24 weeks, the couple were in their new home in approximately 17 weeks.

“You just want to get in as soon as you can- and it happened faster than we thought,” Jordan said.

Support through a first-home building journey

As first-time builders, Jordan and Caitlin were navigating a completely new process, but said they always felt informed and supported.

“It can be overwhelming, but every question we had was answered. And if someone didn’t know, they found out and got back to us. That made a huge difference.”

They also highlighted the importance of transparency and communication throughout the build.

“There’s nothing worse than being told the wrong thing. But they always checked and came back with the right answer.”

Advice for future first-home builders

Reflecting on their experience, the couple encouraged future builders to do their research and ask plenty of questions.

“Just ask questions. You can never ask too many. It makes the whole process more comfortable when everyone’s on the same page.”

Would they recommend Hunter Homes?

Without hesitation- the answer was yes.
